I did it
 
after a few not so good attempts, i refined my technique to the point where i can make a custom mould for my ear,
 
for any iem,
 
get a perfect seal,
 
and incredibly comfortable.
 
for less then $2 a pair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
a 1/2 pound of easy mould cost me about $27, and i can make 20 or 30 custom moulds with it....

maybe not as pretty as *real* $250 custom moulds, but having the ability to make a custom mould for
 
ANY iem i own
 
is  priceless.
 
as you can see, my inner ear canal is very small and not uniform

these diy moulds give a PERFECT seal and are so comfortable i dont even know i have anything in my ears.
 
i used this guys technique as a guide... but i found that forming the soft putty into a longer thinner cone shape and then inserting into my ear made my moulds have much better isolation (perfect seal every time)

seriously, i know some will say "not possible" (but the wright brothers got things to fly, we can get modern silicone putty and an iem to 'sit right')  these things fit and sound awesome, for $2 a pair.. custom.

it will cost you $27 and some time (not much time, the putty dries in 5 minutes) to experiment with making a few pairs, after that, you can make custom fit moulds for all the iems you own,

at last.finally i am seeing some diy folks around here interested about cheaper way to make a custom ,cause at the moment i can afford 1k for a pair os es5 (damn!).
by the way i am intriguing in looking for the best technique to do a efficient mold.

my main concern would be doing something horribly wrong and the embarrassment of turning up at the hospital deaf and covered in putty...

I want to do this to my dynamics, but each earpiece has two vents, and I have mo clue yet how I would get around that issue.

I always remove the hamster before applying the putty, basic health and safety...

Man, this looks interesting! What does the material feel like when it has dried, though? In the pictures, the shells look like they could be a bit uncomfortable... (I'm hoping to find something that could make a more rubberized consistency)

its pretty flexible and soft ish when dried, its silicone, so its like a silicone tip only a lot more of it, very comfortable.
