Hi all!
I will start by apoligizinf for my English - I am from Denmark.
Now that that's out of the way we can get down to the fun stuff
I've decided to build my own CIEM's.
Why you may ask? (It's now that you should ask it)
A: Well my PFE 122's were stolen so I had to get something else.
I looked around and had a hard time finding anything - and being in Denmark it can be REALLY hard to listen to a pair of IEM's let alone just regular headphones.
Originally I settled on getting the Music One's from The Custom Art.
Then I read about them, and their big brother, Music Two's, and figured - why don't I just build it my self?
The Music Two's use the 1723WT03/09 as a driver and I quickly calculated that I could build one my self with parts to spare afterwards for quite a bit less than that.
Not shaming the Music Two's here, they seem to be at a good value compared to other.
So I went on the adventure of sourcing parts for this project - again not easy when in Denmark.
But finally found it all and I will be building at least one pair of CIEM's using the 1723's - perhaps even a quad with two of them? Who knows time will tell.
So today I got most of the parts and started tinkering:

But the result sucked!
Then I tried trimming the heatshrink tubing down to see if that was the culprit but to no avail.
So I started trimming the clear tubing.
It moved it closer to being good.
Then I trimmed it a lot!

And there it was - I could finally sense what this driver was capable of.
It is still not there yet - but I think it will be once I have made a stepped tube for it to act as a horn in accordance to Sonion's guide.
It have, though, revealed that all my audio sources sucks big time - so perhaps I should get an amp/dac soon.
More to come! I will be making my own shells of UV cured acrylic and test with different dampers, and perhaps a quad.
Maybe if the 1723TW03/09 has too much bass I will do a quad with one 1723WT03 + 1723WT03/09
