I’m looking to make a 2.5mm female to 3.5mm male adapter cable.

It would be like FiiO L26 and others but longer.

I have a long section of the cable cut from my 2.5mm balanced cable.

Can anyone advise on how to proceed?

I’ve bought a 2.5mm female plug but I’m not sure about the rest. TRS? TRRS?

Thank you

No DAP risk involved. This is a solution for using a short balanced cable (connected to my CIEM) on an aeroplane!

(Changing cables frequently makes the 2-pin CIEM sockets loose in my experience.)

Ah understood. An adapter to connect 2.5 balance inear to 3.5 source, its ok.
R- and L- should be welded together, become commond ground.
In airplane, sleeve(s) are ground.
If your inear is 2.5 single end, it is more simple : TRS, S is ground.
