I got a Dragonfly Cobalt delivered yesterday and took it for a spin earlier today. Unfortunately, it seems like there is an issue in that dynamic peaks seem to cause it to audibly distort, the artifact sounds a lot like a very mild overload on an analog input, crystal clear but then at peaks there is a slight breakup that is clearly audible and nasty.

I noticed this within the first 10 minutes of playing it, and ended up using Roon to set up two zones so I could flip back and forth easily between cobalt and red and was able to confirm red does not have this problem. Finally, as a last bit of confirmation, I moved away from my desktop system and plugged hd650s directly in- yes same issue with the HD650s too.

Not really sure what to think at this point- the distortion is not in your face bad, but if you even try to listen for it it will present. For instance, Norah Jones Sunrise showcases this at:

"And I said
Hoo, ooh, ooh, ooh
Hoo, ooh, ooh, ooh
Hoo, ooh, ooh, ooh"

Thoughts, similar experience?

Thanks!
