Hi

I have a Beyedynamic Byron wired IEM that suddenly stopped working in 1 channel. ie. I pulled them out of their case and it wasn't working. I have jiggled the cable all along the length but not able to get anything out of it - IME a bad cable you are usually able to jiggle the cable to make a connection which shows the fault.

Obviously these are way out of warranty and BD didnt have any/wouldn't share any doc on servicing them. I was hoping to dismantle the offending driver unit so that I could get my multimeter in there an do a continuity to confirm 100% if it is the cable (which I could replace) or the driver, which apparently is potentially replaceable.

These are cheap IEM's but I like them and I hate chucking out good stuff. I have nothing to lose here so willing to risk killing them.

Is anyone able to suggest how I would disassemble the driver unit ?

Sorry if this has been covered before - I searched but was not able to find anything.

cheers

Did you search YouTube yet? Usually it returns a lot more than Google video search. Google images might help too for clues how to safely open them. Consolidated Sound is the repair arm of Beyerdynamic North America and they have parts for everything. Hopefully it's just a loose wire that vibrated off.

Thanks dunring. I have now. :relaxed:

Didnt find anything specifically for AT let alone the byron but found one for another brand. Simply use a blade and pry it apart. I will give this a go when I get a chance and see what happens. Thanks for the tip on Consolidated Sound - it might come in handy.
