I'm trying to disassemble the headband on my new HD-580 so that I can remove the Silver/Blue paint. Do I need to pull the foam pad out from the headband to access some screws, or do they come apart some other way?

You need to remove the clips on both ends of the headband on the side of the pad. Just use a large flat screwdriver and twist gently to remove them. Slide out the headband pad one way or the other and then slide out the metal body that goes into the headband and attaches to the driver housing. Done. You know where to get a hold of me if you need more information.

I thought about PMing you to ask, but I already bugged you enough. Then you answer my question anyway.

Thanks again Alex, that's very straightforward.

Worked like a charm! I also read on the net that soaking plastic painted parts in Simple Green will remove the paint without harming the plastic. I'll let you know how that works. It says to soak them for a day or two for best results.

It did work. You need to leave it soaking for several days however.
