Disappointed in the "audiophile" community...

Flat sound is definitely what I enjoy most; even if the bass isn't too kicking, as long as it's clear and well resolved in the soundstage, I'll enjoy it. Now, pumping bass IS quite nice, but if it's muddy and sloppy, then no... I'd rather clear bass over deep and muddy bass.

The main problem is the recordings... some sounds extremely dry and thin and others loud with a punchy sub-bass extension.

JH or Earsonics have launched adjustable bass potentiometers in their new designs... IMHO, it is one of the best solution.

But it's very annoying to use small CMS potentiometers... and extremely hard to make the balance by ear

Reading around the internet, people act like these headphones have "too much" bass. Even with EQ, they don't pick the small impact or rumble sounds in most hip hop sounds.

My gr07 mkII (an in ear monitor) is more forward across all ranges, has a much deeper bass with more impact, yet very well controlled, and seems to react very well with EQ. I'm beginning to think the audiophile community is full of treble heads.

I guess after trying the gorgeous M50xBL, I've learned to appreciate what I had. Time to send them back.

*The rant isn't exclusively towards head-fi, but many of the other sites that I've about these as well

Isn't there a song about that? All about da bass?

In the last 20 years the regular guy has been bombarded with home cinema sub-woofers, late night dance club sessions with bouncing bass and boobs.

The regular listener has been asalted by car audio and bass-centric headphones have become mainstream.

It's no wonder when he is subjected to a pure ruler flat EQ curve that he perceives it as treble heavy.

Apparences..!

Eh guys don't forget that your big headphones are bass boosted by the "a kind of bone conduction" (skin sense) .

The real response is like my CSD...
