When I have my 5G iPod connected to my speaker setup through the Universal Dock lineout, the volume control is enabled which is irritating since i just one a line level output for my speakers. Does anyone know if its possible to disable the volume control on the Universal Dock somehow?

I think the Universal Dock operates just like the Radio Remote. They must have stuck a seperate opamp inside it to control the volume. Interestingly, this is only true when you use a 5G or 5.5G iPod, the older ones just give a line out. Hopefully Apple will implement an option in the firmware to disable the volume control one day...

I doubt there is any extra electronics to control volume. It is most probably done in software.
