Anyone directly compare the ASL MGH and the Berning ZOTL? With or withour NOS. (haven't seen this in the archives).
I'm looking for a good tubed amp.

Any one heard the ASL Reference Tool?

To use with 600's (or even SR-1's)

Thanks
Tom

here's my direct comparison:

if you have the money, don't even waste time with the mg head. the only way the mg head is slightly better than the zotl is by build quality, although the zotl's quality control is much much better.

I find that the Zotl more accurately expresses timbres and information about recording venue, microphoning, etc.. The Zotl has faster, more controlled bass. It beautifully integrates the spectrum from bass to mids to highs.
The MGH can improve the sound of some recordings that need boosted bass and rolled off treble: very old jazz, for example.

Let us know what you decide to do!
