I need some help!! Which out of the following are considered the best versions of their CD's:-

Dire Straits
Vertigo Blue Swirl
Vertigo Red Swirl
Target Japan

Communique
Vertigo Blue Swirl
Vertigo Red Swirl

Making Movies
Vertigo Blue Swirl
Vertigo Red Swirl

Love Over Gold
Vertigo Blue Swirl
Vertigo Red Swirl

Brothers In Arms
Warner Bros USA
Warner Bros West Germany
Vertigo West Germany

Money for Nothing
Warner Bros
Vertigo

On Every Street
WB USA
Vertigo Germany
Vertigo Japan

Are the West German and Japanese CD's better than the USA ones and why Red and Blue Swirl versions of the same album. I know it's a long list, but I'm hoping there are some Dire Straits experts out there. Just can't get enough of their music so I am now trying to find the best examples of each of their albums.

I'm pretty sure the blue and red swirl CDs are digitally identical for the most part.  The blue were pressed earlier than the red. That is why the blue ones go for more.  I can't help on the best versions. I have Japan 'targets' of "Communique" and "Love Over Gold" and the early WG "Brother in Arms" with the Dobro on the CD.  All of these sound very good to me, but I have no idea how they compare to the Vertigos.
