I just got his Alchemy album and while I am awed as always by his genius, I found the recording bright and compressed. Furthermore I can't feel the impact of the kick drums. The mids sound compressed and noisy as opposed to musical. I usually don't like equalising, but I was forced to use it on this collection. It was too bright even for my HD580s.

Have you guys had the same experience or is it because of my hardware. I am just playing it out of my CD drive on my laptop (Sony CRX830E).
