Digital Camera for ~$300 USD?

Yet another vote for Canon A series.

I bought a A540 from CircuitCity for about $265 locally. It can be found online cheaper, but I wanted it that weekend. It's a great camera, and produced beautiful pictures. For the price I think you'd be hard pressed find a better camera than the A series. The A700 is also a nice choice and still under $300. Plus the A700 is a 6x zoom (35mm eqiv. of 210mm). That's a really nice feature.

My only reason for going 540 over 700 was the frames per second were slightly higher on the 540, and the battery lasted a bit longer. I mainly bought it for vacations, and general use.

Still dreaming of moving up to a DSLR somewhere down the line.

Canon A series. If you are going to be using the flash, then you must get the A620. It takes 4 AA batteries which gives it much better flash recycle times over the lower models. You can get this camera around $248 at www.buydig.com. All of the reviews have been positive.
