Hi. I have a potential 5.5 gen. 80gb Ipod for purchasing. However, I can´t tell at first sight the physical differences between the 5.5 80gb gen and a 80gb 6th gen ipod, so my question is, what are the key or physical differences between those two? How can I spot which one is which?

(wasn´t too much into ipods until recently)
I´m also going to some pawn shops to search for this 5.5 gen. so I need to know.

Thanks.

I think the 5.5 has a clear, plastic front, with either a white or black underlay, whereas the 6 has an all-aluminum face in either silver or black. Should be easy enough to spot; I'd be more worried about confusing the 5 and the 5.5.

Classic also has coverflow, while 5.5 uses the standard iPod user interface.

See ya

the 6th gen has beveled edges, aluminum opaque surface finish and a new interface with the split screen, menu items on the left, floating artwork on the right. it's also thinner

If you're going to pawn shops to search for a 5.5, there are no physical differences between the 5 and 5.5 AFAIK, other than the capacity of the hard drive (and hence thickness). Just make sure you got the right one.
