Hey I'm new to headphones. I used to be satisfied with cheap in-ear headphones until I used my friends over the ear ones and found out how much better music sounds through them.

I was going to get the audio-technica ATH-SQ5's, but I keep reading about how the ATH-ES7s are better.
So after trying to find a cheap pair, I came across the ATH-ES7A which run for $100-$120 as opposed to the $170.

I know this is a stupid question, but are the ES7 and ES7A the same thing? I keep looking around, but every site that has the ES7As just give a vague description while the ES7s have an indepth description

i think the es7a is aluminium housing and the other one is at's beloved titanium. maybe i am wrong. the driver should be the same.
