Trying to make my MA900 have a detachable cable via XLR (3 pin). The problem im having is installing the XLR input port into the headphones. I haven't bought the port yet so I'm not sure how to solder it to the MA900's drivers.

How bout XLR VS RCA vs AUX cable?

An XLR connector seems unnecessarily large and cumbersome. You might want to consider putting an RCA connector on each side or running a cable through the headband to make it a single sided 3.5 mm stereo jack.
