I plan to purchase Grado 325i headphones and a suitable amp over the next six months.
I have an interest in the following amps:
Headroom Micro Amp
Headamp Gilmore Lite
Firestone Cute Beyond
and am curious about SQ improvements that I might expect relative to my current PA2V2/SR60 combo (which I will eventually use as my office rig) should I purchase the amp first.
An iPod classic (Apple lossless; LOD) and a vintage Fisher tuner will be my sources.
I'm not concerned about portability and primarily interested in a solid state amp.
This amp and the new Grados will be my last equipment purchases for quite some time (perhaps forever?).
I can purchase one thing soon - either the new Grados (which would be used with the PA2V2 for a while) or the new amp (with SR60s) until I scare up the $ for the other.
Is it better to get the new headphones or amp first?
