Does anyone know if Denon has good headphone output on their receivers? I don't care about the speakers or anything just the headphone jack. I know some other receivers have decent sound out of the headphone jack but im not sure about Denon. Could they be compared to a $300-ish dedicated headphone amp?(Gilmore lite)

EDIT: Specifically looking at Model DRA-295

I owned a Denon AVC-2870 which is a one of their mid-range 7.1 HT Receivers (cost about $800 new). The headphone jack in it was just okay. It could drive Senn HD600 pretty loud without any noticable distortion, but compared to a real headphone amp, the soundstage was collapsed and it lacked any real punch. So in other words, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either.

Still, I'm not a fan of the Gilmore Lite (puzzled why people think it's so great), so if I only had my AVC-2870, I wouldn't be tempted to get a Lite on top of that.

Best regards,

-Jason
