I am going over my D5000s and there is a Foam donut that sits in a recess on top of the inner surface of the driver. It is held in place by the screen on the earpads when they are fastened to the frame. This is about 8mm thick foam.

Does anyone know where to source these? Mine are breaking down into little bits and need replacing.

Alternatively, a source for some similar foam I could cut out a pair.

I contacted Mark Lawton and he recommended Full Compass but they didn't have them.

For Denon, it's Encompass. I think you mean the driver cushion but I don't see it available for the D5000, only the D5200:

You can check photos to see if it's the same cushion used in both. That part I'm not sure about.

This looks like the one used on the Fostex line.

Yeah, if you read the one review:

Product description doesn't have photo but these are the same foam rings used by Denon and Fostex headphones. The foam rings become brittle and disintegrate over time and sound quality suffer. New dampers will bring it back to life.

You got it! Have you compared the Original Denon 5000/70000 to the 5200/7200/9200 or Fostex 900?
