Trying to figure out what my next headphone purchase should be. I will be using these mainly for portable use, walking around my college campus. I won't really be using these in places like subways and airplanes. I'm coming from the V-Moda M80, and absolutely LOVED their sound signature, but hated their comfort level. I can get the M100 and the D2000 for about the same price.

These are some samples of what I listen to (over 4000 320kbs tracks on my 64gb iPhone 5, used with NuForce MMP)

I've owned the D2000's in the past and have tried the M100's at the windows store.  Both are fantastic headphones and probably are the 2 best closed headphones I've used to this date.  The d2000's will go deeper on the bass and most likely have the edge on overall sound quality.  If you are going to be using these for portable use though, then I think that automatically takes the D2000s out of the equation, they're HUGE with a big 10 foot nonremovable cord.  They also have sub-par isolation and a lot of leakage for a pair of closed headphones.

What Windows store did you go to @GaryPham ? I would like to go there to try out the m100s, I'm also looking to buy headphones

I went to the Windows store in Fashion Valley, San Diego.  That was awhile ago though so I'm not sure if they still have them in store.  When I was there though they had several Vmoda M80s and M100s hooked up to all of their laptops for demo.

Sound signature is very similar, but the soundstage on the d2k's is much larger, and the comfort is wayyyy better.  Even with the XL pads for the m100's.   I think the m100's thump a little harder; you can feel them a bit more in your skull.   And the d2k's are a little harsher in the treble.
