Denon d2000 or shure 840 without amps?

From the Shure thread, the Denon was viewed by serveral members to be a better headphone. However, at the time it was ~$100 more and since then the price has fallen.

I prefer Denon AH-D2000. It sounds more neutral and natural to my ears.

It's nothing like a pair of Grado's but it's not exactly the quietest thing in the world. If you plan on buying the JMoney pads it'll help with it exponentially.

Hmm, I got the notion from that thread that most people who'd tried both actually prefered the Shures...

If the D2000's are anywhere near the D5000's in sound quality than I'd definitely vote for the D2000's.

I read that thread and a few people still preferred the D2000. I'd say it's not cut and dry. Personally I'd still like to give the 840s a whirl.
