I am a rookie in audio respect. I want to enjoy MJ or other pop music. My equipment includes sony pcm d50;ony x1060;sen ie7. I want to use pcm d50 to drive a headphone without headphone amplifier. I have two options include: DENON D2000; DENON D5000. Which headphone I should buy? If I use D50 drive DENON D2000 or DENON D5000 without headphone amplifier, is there larger difference between the two things? Is it necessary to me to buy DENON D5000 without without headphone amplifier? THX for your advice.

I've for the D2k and love it, been running it unamped but have a Maverick D1 on the way. I haven't heard the 5k but, coincidentally, I was just listening to some MJ last night and totally loving it.

The D2K sounds pretty good unamped, even my iPhone runs them pretty well so I think you'd enjoy them.

If you can afford them right now, get the D5000. Although, the D2000 are a great listen, too, being a little more forward and "raw" than the D5000. I like both the D2000 and the D5000, but I must say that I like the latter better. : )

The D5000 were definitely the "sweet spot" in this particular Denon product line.
Yep , D7000 wood make looks nicer to many. But D5000 is the sweeeeeeet spot:)
