These look like a very cool portable solution...

Denon USA | AH-P372K

Right now I am absolutely loving my new Denon d2000 and the idea of getting that house sound into a smaller HP is pretty appealing. A quick google search seems they are not widely available anywhere right now, at least in the US. Anyone heard anything about these. The other lower end Denons 301/ 501 are just too big and gawky for portable plus they do not seem to be that highly regarded.

I would be interested to know if anyone has heard the P327K?

Might I suggest consider the D1000s as well which are circumaural rather than the P372Ks which are supra-aural. No, I don't know anything about these new Denons you've discovered. But the D1000s are a very nice little headphone and carry that Denon house sound. They actually scale up pretty nicely too.

I have been eying these too, but my guess is that they have very little in common with the DXXXX series.
A local store have them in stock so I might try them out this week.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I have def. thought about the 1000 as a portable alternative esp. given its relative small size. I guess I just like the more rugged look of the AH-P327K for on the go. I know this has been brought up before but I am still confused as to the difference between the Denon 1000 and 1001? Both are currently listed on Denon's website for almost identical price and description. Is there any reason to get one over the other?

I think one comes with an extra accessory (a bag?) otherwise they are the same.

Goober-george [ahem] is correct. The D1000 and D1001 are identical. I had the D1000 and two of my friends got a pair upon my recommendation and they both got the D1001. They were the same.

One thing the P327K may have an advantage over the D100x is if they fold up for extreme portability. There seems to be a hinge where the sound chambers could rotate up into the headband. If so, this would be attractive to me as well. It would make for a very tidy little package indeed.

I'm not 100% sure, that these will be much cop really! The 501's weren't exactly ground breaking, but still i'm willing to give them a go.

Yeah it does sound like the 501s are not that great. Pretty ugly too- and huge. Someone posted a pic of them next to the 1000 and I was surprised at how much bigger the 501 is. Not sure what the 501s niche is???
