The D7200 seems to have dipped in price in the UK and is roughly the same price as the Fostex (around the £500 mark).

Does anyone have experience with both and could provide some insights? Ideally I'll find a store that carries both so I can compare, but in the mean time I'd be grateful for any insights.

I've not seen a lot of comparisons, I'm guessing because these weren't in the same price range at launch (at least in the UK) and the 610's have some pretty harsh reviews at the top of their google results.

I have both and am a fan of both. There are similarities between them. The TH610 is more airy. The D7200 is warmer and bassier. Of the 2 the TH610 is flatter. The 7200 is a bit more tilted towards the bass and a bit darker.

Just wanted to say thanks for your comparison. I ended up spending an hour listening to the Fostex TH610’s and falling in love was th the sound.


Your descriptions was spot on - to me they sounded very airy and open - possibly more so than the Fidelio X2’s, the only open backs I have to compare them with.


I appreciated the bass being present when called for, but not heavy or overwheling.


In the end I couldn’t find a store with the denon’s under two hours travel away so I went with my gut/ears with no regrets.

Is D7200 closer to LCD2 ? or LCDXC ? I am looking for a headphone that is bit dark and had the bass of LCD2 headphone.

I don't own the XC but I do own the X and LCD2F. I'd say the D7200 is defnintely closer to the 2F than the X.

I've got a D5200 and a D7200 here. Actually your description fits to them as well. The D7200 is warmer and bassier than the D5200. Would be interested in a comparison D5200, TH610 and D7200.
