Hey guys, I've been doing research on the best IEM under $100 and it seems the c551k from denon is the best choice. I listen to rock/metal and also rap/hip-hop, which is where I demand good quality bass. Is this really the best choice or is there another? Thanks for your help.

Can't go wrong with C551 for bass. It's bass is controlled means the bass is strong, but not disturbing the other frequencies. So you can still listen to the detail of the music with the extra punchy bass.

The AH-C700 is also a great buy. I have both the 551 and the 751 (the 700 in disguise). The 551 has a lot of bass and is softer in the treble region. The 751 (700) has a more sparkly treble with still lots of punch in the bass. I find the 700's slightly more balanced than the 551 which is tipped more towards bass.

If you can still get it, you'll find the 700 around the price of the 551 and it is exactly the same as the 751.

Hi,
I got my eye on C551 too while surfing for Super Fi 3. They both in the same price , even though Super Fi 3 is a bit higher. Which amp would you recommend to go with C551 ?

thanks

Not at all, C551 is very easy to drive. It's meant for portable use, so amp is really not needed. But an amp will surely bring the C551 to it's fullest.
