i hv been using cx-300 for portable use from my ipod-5thgen.
I have grado sr-80 for home use..
now,i want to upgrade to some denons- ah-c452k or ah-c551k. There is not much of a price difference between these two, around 10-15 dollars.
which would be better choice?? which has more bass( in terms of quality and quantity). I do like quality bass not bloated like cx-300. Which provides a better fit??? I mailnly listen to rock but do listen other genres also.

I have the 351s and I am very happy with them - they sound very good for the $40 I paid for them 6 mos ago. The 551s and the 701s are supposed to be better so I say go for it

thanks for your rep. do u have any idea about ah-c452k. headroom gives it 4.5 stars.
are they really worth it?? are these better than ah-c551 or is it the other way around??

I just picked up the C551 last week. Still rather new, but the bass is very nice in them. Just seems to be sounding better as they burn in. Im pretty happy with them, and at $55 bucks total brand new, doesnt hurt the wallet.

I haven't tried either of the Denons, but I believe the overall sound quality is better on the C551. Otherwise, Denon would charge more for the C452.

According to some reviews, there seem to be some differences in sound between the two. The C452 is said to be more aggressive, with more forward midrange and treble, while the C551 is comparatively more bassy and slightly laid back. Having said that, and the fact that you own Grados, the C452 may be better for you, but again, I never had the opportunity to listen to either.
