Thanks for the heads up. Does anyone have an opinion if v3.14 is worth the upgrade from v3.12? I've been pretty happy with v3.12.

Since you're asking... I've not upgraded so I can't say. Is it worth it? .... That depends on how comfortable you are with updating and then liking the new update sound wise.

No, I've not done the update cause I don't feel like dealing with the hassle, and I like what the system sounds like now (v3.12). My setup is Iris 12th > Pontus 12th-1.

Thanks for the info. I'm happy with v3.12 and probably won't upgrade. I've always been afraid to accidentally brick the DAC during the upgrade.

3.12 and 3.14 are the very same versions just 3.14 will allow you to modify the volume from Windows/Linux etc, I'd stay with 3.12 and volume always 100%

Hello, I am looking into investing a in Pontus to pair with my V222. Is the Iris a necessary to get the most out of the Pontus? Also do DDCs cause a delay/lag when watching live events?

I had the Iris and now the A-GD DI-20 and 0 lag with yt or twitch live events

Yes absolutely, I was connecting it I2S from Pontus > Iris and Iris USB > PC

I have both the Pontus and Iris, and game and can confirm zero lag.

I have the Hermes and Pontus II 12th and don't really notice any lag, I think they worked on it with the firmware stuff earlier on but don't remember exactly.

Have to say Denafrips really made a mess of things when splitting up with Vinshine Audio. Firmware update support is no longer supported as per Alvin so you can’t even flash whatever version you want anymore with the old models by requesting an update file.

And they’re off busy diluting their brand and making it confusing with new models and names every half a year with no clear differences. And of course losing a trusted customer facing rep to the community was probably the worst they could do. As a potential first-time customer, have to say I’m turned off to the Denafrips line.

What prevents you from flashing any of the older software versions? Do you really have to write to someone in Denafrips for this?
