That's one nice looking piece of kit. But I can't find any info on the D03 on his website.

I wonder how much of the negativity surrounding delta-sigma dacs has to do with them being used in pretty much every cheap consumer level dvd and cd players. I have heard my fair share of high-end players and many of them use delta-sigma dacs and still manage to sound pretty damn good.

I just think it's bad technology trying to make excuses for itself. No matter how much window dressing you do, a stone will always be a stone.

Never heard of that chipset, and it's produce code sounds more like a video decoder than a DAC.

This is most likely a filter not a DAC chip. look at the other chips on the mb. Philips DAC chips are usually prefixed by TDA- in this period.

SAA7350 is a 20bit DAC from the early 1990's. Lovely piece of kit. It's used in the Marantz CD72 & CD52 mkIISE.

I took my CD player(Aiwa XC-750) to pieces the other week and considered seeing if I could turn it into a DAC. It has the SAA7350 in it and it really does sound quite nice

I never knew Philips made a 20 bit DAC. It'll be one to look out for.

My interest is more directed towards the UltraAnalog family. Too bad you can't pop open an old Aiwa and find one of them in there.

Multibit. Philips refered to all their delta-sigmas as "bitstream" back in the day.

Aye, and they sound very nice indeed. But I'm guessing things have moved on a lot in the last decade or so, because I find my CD player and Audigy soundcards are as identical sounding as a pin dropping and a pin dropping. Yet everyone keeps telling me how rubbish the Audigy series are.
