[raises hand]

Yup. Being a nice Jewish boy, I grew up with some great deli's around, with Corned Beef, Pastrami, Tongue (!), and more to die for.

I really miss that....and I used to eat the croned beef sans sandwich as well!

I love deli meat; the supermarket I go to has boars head and I just keep ordering a 1/4 pound of this and that to get the free samples. Once I was so hungry and the roast beef was so good, I ate all quarter pound of it on they way to the checkout (I still paid).

My favs are:

Boars Head Roast Beef
Finlandia Swiss
Honey Ham
Boars Head Turkey Breast
Pastrami

I am drooling just thinking about it (mmmust not raid refrigerator - GF's daughter's luch is in there)

The other day I saw a woman tearing into a package of salami on the subway in New York. Somehow, it felt like one of the wierdest things I've seen in NYC in a while. It was like the meat was *naked* without the bread covering it up. I know that's irrational, but...

when i was a kid i loved tongue, used to slather ketchup all over it.

nowadays, i think thats kinda gross.... It's only good if it's really tender and prepared by my mom

Then again, she's the only one that ever cooked it for me.

I got this bad (?) habit of eating "raw" hotdogs (in quotes cuz they're actually precooked). Sometimes I'll go through the whole pack before I ever manage to pull out a hotdog bun

Oh man, there was this great Deli but two blocks from me when I was going to school in Chicago (Morry's for the U of Cers/Chicagoans on the board). I really loved their sky high with corned/roast beef--gah, I miss having a great deli like that around!

For a time when I was too lazy to cook I probably invested $20 a week there.
