Ugh im really torn between a DAC or soundcard. I may go with a DAC due to the inevitable need to upgrade my computer's motherboard, with new boards having good soundcards already. Again I am still torn. Whats a good portable amp?

Portable Amp: FiiO E12 is a pretty nice and popular amp.

I was actually looking at the E11. Is the E12 worth the price increase. Read the E11 does have battery issues which is a red flag.

I haven't had experience with the E11, some people seem to like it just fine though and it is a pretty well priced amp. And you always got to think about resale value if you ever decide later on for an upgrade (this audio hobby can be more expensive than less legal things)

And FiiO usually fixes things in later production runs so try to buy a recently made one.
