Are there any? Most high-end cd players have one or another way to buffer the incoming data to eliminate jitter (some call it "jitter jail") so it left me wonder if there's such things as it.

Altman has some sort of device that takes jitter beyond the audible range, this making it inaudible.

you can buy the module without the DAC, but it's pretty expensive (500). Also, I have no idea how effective it is...

Apparently they are. Might be why they aren't seen in mid-range CDPs.

on the used market there is the assemblage jitterbug and I think the digital lens also performed that function. Mainly these things seem to reclock the data to get it ready for dac. The better your clock in your dac the less the need for these devices.

the original Genesis Digital Lens (dates back to mid-90s) still does a fine job for 16-bit sources limited to 44.1 or 48. Also very useful as a digital source selector (1 each coax, BNC, TOS, AES/EBU on XLR, glass).

wrt the "next-generation" 24/192 Digital Lens to be forthcoming from PS Audio, ongoing discussion can be found in the "Future Products" section (2 threads: "New Digital Lens" and "CD Transport") of PS Audio boards
