In terms of graphics, or in terms of playability? I could care less about graphics, honestly.. Are there any good sports games for the GC?

Thanks for the links guys, I'll probably check them out this weekend. Tests and assignments this week are raping me.

Playability. GC is, for the most part, young and family-oriented. Not sure about sports, but if you're an action or rpg fan, I'd go for a ps2.

Would you like to buy mine? I'll sell it to you for $70 + shipping (as I have no idea how much shipping will cost), along with four controllers, a broadband adapter, and about 300 blocks of memory in two different cards.

I was thinking about buying a Gamecube also. With the price of games going down for the old system. You can buy 10 GC games and the GC console for the price of 1 Wii game and Wii console.

I have an Xbox and I love it, but I bought most of the good games for the system and they aren't making any new games for that system. The GC has a bunch of games I wanted to try.

If you are thinking of getting a system for sports, I would get an Xbox. It has the fastest processor between the PS2(2??Mhz), GC(4??Mhz), Xbox(7??Mhz).
The graphics are better, I just bough Madden 06, and that game is incredible.

GC games are fun, I have all 3 last gen system (PS2, xbox, GC) I played PS2 the most since I love playing rpg and PS2 got more games library that I like. 2nd is GC, I like playing pikmin, donkey conga, wario. My GC games is the least I have than the other 2 system. However I can say I played my gc more than xbox. Xbox games cater sport and FPS fans, I'm suck at FPS and sport games that I like are winning eleven and Virtua tennis. That's why my xbox got the least playing time.

Go ahead and get a Gamecube because they are cheap. Lately I have been picking up alot of Gamecube games for less than $5 brand new. If you have a Sears or Target try those stores for ridiculously marked down prices.

Man, I've played 16 of those games and I have to agree that they picked some of the best.

Can't wait for Metroid Prime 3...

But they missed Tales of Symphonia.

Gamecube has a handfull of excelent games that can be found for very cheap on ebay, the console is worth the price even considering the upcoming Wii launch.

with that said if you can hold out another month when the Wii is released im sure ebay will be flooded with Gamecubes and the price will drop even further.

I did the same thing last fall- got the nintendo for $99, cant really go wrong. It led me to buy an XBOX 360 before I realized I am not much of a video game person anymore. I eventually sold the 360 figuring that the GC served my purpose for any game I would want to play. I might look at buying a wii for nostalgia and its uniqueness, but otherwise, I think I have grown out of the high end video game market.

Anyway, GC has the 3rd best graphics available right now- behind both the xbox systems. For $99 or less it is a steal. Sports games? All I can say is that Madden 2005 on GC rocked all over the original XBOX 360 version- extremely fun, with pretty good graphics.

Well I picked up a used GC for $50 and bought Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 0, and the MegaManX series (I'm a sucker for the old MegaMan games) and I must say, I'm loving the system so far.

I've been playing Megaman the most so far, but only because I've loved the whole MegaMan series after I first played it many years ago. I haven't even tried Resident Evil yet.

I'll have to admit during the beginning of Metroid I was relatively impressed with the graphics and the sound (surround sound system) but wasn't very happy about the gameplay. Now, about 3 - 4 hours of gameplay into it, I'm really enjoying it. I don't think I liked it much at first because I was still getting used to the controls, but I'm finally getting a feel for the controller.

So all-in-all, I'm really loving the system and the price I got it for. If you're a serious gamer who knows what you want, then there are probably better systems out there for you (albeit, they will cost more). But if you're just an average schmo who has been out of the console gaming world for a while and just need something for a little fun, this might be a good choice!
