I listen to EDM, and I have narrowed down my decision to two headphones.
 
Sennheiser Momentum
or
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x
 
I don't want to pay over 250$, and these seem to be the best for my budget. I know the M50x needs an amp to be at its full potential, so is it worth it to use them with an amp or just go with the Momentums that don't require an amp?

Are you looking at the Momentum on ear or over ear? And the first generation, or the new 2.0?

I wouldn't recommend Momentum 1st gen for EDM. They are piss poor in terms of bass and kick drum impact. They are better suited to acoustic music, rock, etc. I'd recommend the Urbanites over the Momentum any day for that genre. Momentum 2 no comment haven't heard them. 
 
M50 would be good for EDM. They have a nice warm bassey sound as well as decent clarity.
