Hi,

This week I finally got my ER-4p with the /s adapter
cable. They sound very good and very detailed.

Maybe I should give myself some time to get used
to them but I was a little disappointed. I'm used
to the soundstage of the HD600 (and anxiously
awaiting a Cardas cable), and the soundstage
of these seems very small. Also, on the first day
I had them I couldget get over all the cord noise.
I could hear my heart beat if I didn't move the cord
off of my chest, and still during quiet passages I
can hear myself breath and noise if I turn my head
from side to side. Does the cord begin to give after
a while? I'd really love these for portable use if
it wasn't for the cord noise.

Sound quality seems top-notch. They seem to give
very good detail on the high end of things and the
mid-range seems very balanced. They've had maybe
30hrs of burn-in so far. Should I burn in while I'm not
listening at high volumes or are listening volumes good
enough?

Thanks!!!

Congratulations on your Etys, gowrygabriev! You should definitely give yourself more time with them, before making your decision as to whether or not you like them, as their sound, after awhile can be both seductive and addictive.
Make sure you get a good seal with either the silicon or foam tips......that is critical for these things. There are numerous threads on this topic.
The soundstage is definitely not as large as a full sized headphone, but the placement of instruments within that soundstage is superb.
As far as the microphonic cord goes, you could try looping the cord over your ears, as that seems to cut it down dramatically. Alternately, you could contact fixup.net for a replacement cord with less microphonics.
Just don't listen to them too much......you may find your beloved Senns sounding a bit muddy and thick in comparison.

When I first got my Ety's I posted a comment about being disappointed as well.
And now? Oh baby! I absolutely love em. Weird that it's an acquired taste in a way. Hang in there. They grow on you big time. The microphonics won't go away though. They're not good if you have to move around a lot.

The advertising says "like having music directly wired to your brain" and I think that really applies with the Ety's. The soundstage is definitely different with them than any other headphone out there - with a good pair of phones it's like you're right at the front of the audience but with the Ety's it's like you're part of the performance.

I don't use the Ety's for walking with - I tend to use the Koss PortaPro and 35's for that.

I must admit that I don't use the Ety's as much as the Koss models. This is not because I prefer the Koss phones but my lifestyle dictates that I can't use the Ety's all the time - people wanting to talk to me, phones ringing, etc.

Much of my listening these days is done whilst walking to work and the like - the Koss are an excellent phone for that purpose.

Hello =)

Putting the cords over my ears then putting the earpieces
in definately helps out the microphonics!

Thanks for all the replies. I'll definately give them more
time

I hear now what you're talking about
when you mention the difference between
the high end of the Etys and the HD600.

Wow...I never thought of the HD600 as missing
treble before; The high end of the Ety's
is so nice! We'll see what happens after my
Cardas cable comes in
