Are there any decent sounding ear bods or clip-ons (improvement over standard iPod models) that can be found for under $50?

My recommendation for a decent pair of in-ear headphones for is the Sony MDR-EX71. They get a lot of mixed reviews here at head-fi, but for the price I think they do a good job and are much better than the stock ear buds that come with the iPod. If you shop around online, you can probably find them for $30-$40. Besides black, they also come in white, which is perfect for iPod owners such as yourself.

I think you should consider some A-T cans listed on Audiocubes.
