I would like to order iBasso DC05, I have never tried their dongles.

How do i update the firmware? Can it be done directly from the Android smartphone?

Does UAC work well for more precise volume control?

Any problems with streaming services?

The last firmware update was November 2021. Haven’t found any instructions but it doesn’t look like updates happen very often. IME so far no issues with Qobuz streaming. I do note that it draws phone battery down faster than a Helm Bolt, have to recharge my iphone after 8 hours of use, helm bolt was more like 10 hours, in both cases using Meze 99 classics

Anyone found a similar ESS chip dongle to the DC05 thats doesn't roll off the treble and sound like a piano where the sustain pedal is stuck? I do like
the DC05, but these are my wish list for an upgrade from it.

iBasso DC05 is a killer device, I think it is one of the best value for money in the dongle universe.

The sound is excellent, lively and energetic, very clear and detailed, with a slight bass boost, done absolutely with taste and without exaggeration.

For me it also has two features that make it truly killer for the price:

MQA - and fully decoded MQAs sound much better -

App with very precise and refined 64-step volume control

Many feel they need to pay much more to get this level of sound so they don't try it out. Ah, so much fun to spend 4 times as much money and get less. lol

I suppose it has its place like the Bose Wave radio used to. That doesn’t make it hifi, just easy to live with
What makes it musical, is if it is, and the DC05 is. Not hard to grasp if you listen to it. My mother had a Bose radio/cd player. It is nothing like that.

Tried the Questyle M15 of my friend, I didn't notice any difference between it and my DC05 (maybe my ear is not good enough).

At least I'm happy that I won't need to spend four times the money for it and keep using my beloved DC05 !
