Dayzee - Flagship DAC from Geshelli Labs

I've been following This thread for a while. Are you able to replace the op amps on the dayzee yourself later?

Yes you can...but unlike the other Geshelli DACs where you can split channels (balanced and unbalanced separately), the Dayzee has a dual-mono design so that means all eight op-amps must be replaced at once. I definitely confirmed that during my tour. With some of the higher-end designs (like Sparkos Pro), that could be a pricey proposition on an already pricey unit.

True enough, but if you are someone who does a lot of tube rolling, pad swapping, and cable swapping it is just another piece of gear with a high tinker factor. I am not quite there yet, but I can see the appeal. 😂

Yep kind of like tube rolling brought to the modern era :). Between the original TIs (which is what I heard it with), the Sparkos, and even the underrated Burson Vivids.... there's a ton of tinkering that can be done on the Dayzee. And personally as someone with a system with not only no room correction but no tone controls whatsoever on my Audoo Research preamp, I love the fact that there's no filters or any adjustments possible.

In fact, I think I mentioned previously if you know the "AKM options" and prefer a particular one (like Brickwall), they need to set it at the factory.

just curious if I only use 1 set of RCA inputs (l+R) i need only to single amps for that channel? and all the others empty sockets ?

No. All opamps need to be used and all opamps need to be switched if/when you switch them. I’m 99% sure that’s right. Others who have the Dayzee can confirm

I don't own one but a friend does. All opamps must be replaced (8). In his opinion, the best is Sparkos pro 2590, the Burson V7 Vivid. I have demoed it against much much higher $$$ Dacs and it is insanely good!!!!!!!!!!

Is this available in the UK/EU anywhere? This is the perfect product for me as I have multiple amps.

Congrats Patswalker! Did you go for any customizations? My walnut/red led/red top window version with sparkos is still working great, especially now that I have a usb noise isolator between my pc and it

Cherry wood clear plexi and top window. I'm going to start with the TI opamps. I've been using their gear for years, super familiar with them. This is going to be great.

Yes, that is what they told me when ordering. All slots must be populated with the same op amps.

Unfortunately I think they’re only shipping in the U.S. at this point. I at least remember hearing on the Passion for Sound review, that it’s not available in Australia, and I believe they said U.S. only at this point, as they are a small company and don’t believe that they will be able to handle service with international shipping costs. It’s a bummer for folks outside the U.S. for sure… Hopefully one day they’ll have a service / distribution partner in other regions…

Hey all. Question. Am I assuming right that the sound changes of putting the sparkos or Burson opamps in the dayzee are similar to doing the same in the J3 or is it a totally different experience?

I’m very familiar with the J3 and my dayzee should be at my place in a week or so. I’m beginning to poke around at what opamps to use

You are correct. However, the Dayzee would need 8 single op-amps to be swapped. The J3 uses dual op-amps (one dual for the single-ended output and two duals for the balanced). Dayzee requires all 8 to be the same. Sound should improve with better op-amps though. Dayzee may need 6-pin to 8-pin adaptors for the SS2590 (but I'm not sure).
