I've glanced through a book "The Dark Side of the Moon - the Making Of the Masterpiece",
by John Harris, 2005.
Here are the relevant excerpts:

What do they mean by "Musical"?

Dave certainly has the edge in portraying emotion through his instruments IMO - That alone doesn't make him more musical, though.

Ooooh, wrong answer to what should have been obvious.

The emotional aspect is exactly why David is more musical. I listen to David's solo albums for the music experience.

Roger has lots of ideas and is willing to experiment, but those ideas aren't always appropriate or properly portrayed in the music. Maybe he should be writing essays or doing TV documentaries.

Yeah well you're probably right that Roger uses music for his ideas etc etc.. I guess I prefer that to the likes of Dave's stuff.. just more involving for me sort of thing...

I understand now why I like "The Clientele", their singer has a similar voice to young Roger Waters,

btw, does anybody here like "The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking", I find everywhere bad reviews, but I love it..

I'm not very educated in Pink Floyd yet, but in an effort to answer this question to contribute to this thread, I've discovered that Dave Gilmour is sort of a jerk, but his musical style was better to me. I seemed to dislike the waters pink floyd and prefered the gilmour floyd.

Still, as much as I adore Pink Floyd, I find Roger Waters very, very distasteful.

That's odd. In every interview I've seen, Gilmour has always come across as a nice guy.
