I don’t have any experience with the dark voice...but I would google vintage tubes with the designation of the stock tubes... http://vintagetubeservices.com/selecting-your-tube-is-an-art/

Has a wide selection of vintage tubes and will happily speak with you over the phone to set you up with exactly what you need.

I'm running the DV 336SE from Massdrop on the stock tubes and I love it. No hum whatsoever. Dead silent when no sound is present.

Warm sound, vocals in particular are just absolutely amazing.

Setup:
Tidal MQA and Hi res >> Grace SDAC >> Darkvoice 336SE >> Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium

Welcome to the hobby with endless upgrade. I have the Dark Voice SSE 336 SE on my way too. KingWa told me they have fixed the " pop" issue. That's good. There is a question that no one seems have authority to answer with certainty that with tube amps, one should not turn the amps On/ Off withouy any load. Read below:

Happy listening.

I have a DV336SE. I have had it about 3 weeks now and love it with my 6xx. IMO, the stock tubes sound really good. That said, I ordered an RCA NOS-6AS7G and a Tung-Sol 6SN7GTB New Prod and can definitely notice the difference in the quality of the tubes. The 6AS7G made the biggest difference in terms of widening the soundstage, clarity and instrument separation. It brings a slightly brighter sound to the amp over the stock tube.

I don't notice a difference in sound when listening to the stock 6SN7 or Tung-Sol 6SN7GTB with either 6AS7G tube. I have ordered some additional tubes per the recommendation in the following thread from Massdrop. They were a little pricey, but I am having so much fun with this amp I said what the hell. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/dark-voice-366se/talk/2006431?utm_source=linkshare&referer=KHCQL7

If you get a new 6SN7 tube you are likely to get hum when you install it. Follow the instructions in this post and you should be able to get rid of the hum after about 72 hours of burn in. This was the case with my Tung-Sol 6SN7GTB. http://blog.thetubestore.com/burning-in-6sn7-tubes-for-the-dark-voice-336se-headphone-amp/

My setup:
Google Play Music -> Chromecast Audio -> DV336SE -> 6xx

@mindhead1 Apologies for chiming into an old thread, I just bought darkvoice about a month ag. What an amp! I bought a nos Sovtek russian 6sn7, it buzzes like a beehive still persisting over a couple hours of running in. My other GE 6sn7GTA had a less audible hum it panned out into silence after 3 days, probably had it on for 30 hours. Just curious the stock 6SN7 vs Tung-Sol 6SN7GTB, can you confirm if there is no difference between the two? Did you run into any noise issues with the RCA 6as7G ? I have heard that too can be noisy?

You may like to try the 6080 power tube. I scored a Thomson 6080w It looks like an oversized 6sn7, it is more dynamic and "faster" sounding than the other 6as7; stock tube and C wing Russian 6h5c. 6080 definitely suits EDM music material while the 6as7/6h5c suits jazz and vocals with a warmer rendition to me.

Cheers

I am lazy to make new treath. using this old
I am new dark voice 336se owner. i am littlebit confuced. My AKGK612pro sounds so weak and thin they are 120ohm. but my 32ohm headphones seems to be work fine without hum or any noise. I already order dunu 200 ohm Impedance Plug, maybe that helping k612pro sounding better.

I also wondering is this broken or something else. I use my ipad mediasource and switch back and forth dark voice and ipad. i dont hear big difference in sound stock tubes. Not so tubines and warmt . My Little BearP7 sounds lot better, warm and wide. tubines , than dark voice 336se- price difference is big. p7 is cheap
