Hello,

I was thinking about this amp, however, can anybody answer this question;

What are the pros&cons of ½ tube/channel?

Also, if anybody has compared this amp with a G&W T2.6F I would be happy to hear your opinion!

If it's power you're concerned with, the Darkvoice is rated at 1 WPC, and drives the difficult K340 quite well. If it's dynamics you think might be sacrificed, no problem on that front either. I"ll put my two cents worth in and say that the Darkvoice 336 & 336i are the best tube amp you'll hear under $600.00. Just change the stock Chinese tubes for some NOS goodness, and enjoy. Oh the background of this amp is very black as well, quiet passages are just that.

Sounds good. So no real cons then?
I was thinking of pairing this amp with a K701.

Isn't 336i's big brother, Darkvoice 332 performs better and it doesn't cost $600?

332 has a different design with different tubes, and reportedly a significantly different sonic signature, so it is not necessarily any better if you like the 336's sound.

Let's not get of topic here

So, are there any negative sides with only one tube?

i love my 336i. the k701 sounds great with it, but i prefer my hd650s. i let head-fier "tangsta" borrow my 336i and i know he had the G&W T2.6F so i'm sure he can tell you how they compare. from his impressions, it sounded like he preferred the 336i.

@keanej6: Thank you for the tip, and you were right, he preferred the 336i.

Looks like I have found my amp then, provided that that the synergy between this amp and a pair of K710's isn't completely intolerable...
