Not at all surprised to hear this. Even though the go-between kept maintaining that his 'incremental' price increases were justified by cost, it seemed 'possible' as an outside observer that his approximately 50% price increase from the time it was first talked about on head-fi to now, was being inflated by the middle-man.

Not completely unlike the situation a while back between the original Zhaolu distributor, Lawrence, and head-fiers, whereby Lawrence was making a tidy margin, often on 'upgrades' that absolutely had no effect on sound.

Half the battle with this cheap Chinese stuff is actually getting it from a distributor that will send it direct without a 100% mark up. I'll get this amp if that can be established. If not, I won't, purely on the principle of it. That, and the fact that there are hardly any reviews that involve the RS-1.

One thing to consider is the service provided by the re-seller/exporter. I was unlucky enough to receive a DOA Darkvoice and JianLu has sent me out another one via EMS at no cost to me and is even covering the ocean shipping back to China. In addition, you have to figure that at least $100.00 -/+ 30.00 or so of that $310.00 is eaten up by shipping. IMHO, I don't mind paying a little more to get excellent service.

Happy Listening!

Awesome, did you get the 336i or the 336? Also what do you think of this site:

http://www.erjicn.com/List.aspx?CatID=45

This is great because my uncle is coming to the states in a couple of months from China, I'll have him bring me one. I was just in Beijing a week ago but from what I was reading here I thought the amp would cost 3-4000 RMB, not 1200 like it says there, so I didn't bother searching for it. ah well!

I paid $310 shipped for 336i (110V AC).

Make sure that you get the 110V version if you plan to use it in the US.
