Thinking of purchasing the Darkvoice and I was wondering if it was powerful enough for the DT990 600ohm. Thanks in advance.

Bleh, never mind. I don't have sufficient funds for the 600ohm version. Is there a big difference from the old DT990/250 to the newly designed DT990/250?

Edit: Looking at some pictures, I see some DT990s where there is a silver plate where the name is, then there is just the name printed on the headphone. Any difference in that? Is that the differentiating factor for the 03 and a older one?

The new version are thought to be a lot better than the '03.

Hmm...if the difference isn't really big, I would rather go towards the cheaper 03 models. Anyone with a DV and a DT990?

I can't personally speak to the difference between the '05 and the previous version. My understanding is that there is a healthy improvment in SQ with the '05. I love mine and find them to be very versatile.

Now, the difference between the 250 and 600 ohm models is not night and day but there definitely is a difference. The main difference I found was that the 600s are smoother at the high end. There are times when the 250s can be harsh - doesn't happen with the 600s.

Yes, the DV drives the 600s just fine. Yes, it is a good pairing. Find the right tube combo and it will help tame those harsh highs I mentioned in regards to the 250s.

Thanks a lot warrior. I was wondering if anyone knows what's a good place to buy the 05 version. I can't seem to find a good place, and there are none availiable on the FS forum besides the custom ones. Probably going to aim for the 250ohm version, just because my budget is limited.

Thanks. The best I can find are ones on Ebay for 229...I guess I'll keep an eye out. Not like I have the DV now anways. Thanks for all the help. Would the HD600/650s be a better match for the DV? That was another option I was considering.

On the other hand, I like the sound of the older DT990 better. I find it to be more warm, textured and organic than the new '05 edition. The New DT990 definitely looks better though...

I see why people like the '05 better though, it has a more traditionaly "hifi" sound.

Hmm...I am very interested in the warmth factor...I was aiming for the old DT990 but I'm still not understanding, after four hours of research, if the difference from the new to the old are big. Also, what do you mean by Hifi sound? Sorry about the inconvenience.

Sorry, can't help you in regards to the Senns. I don't have any in my stable and tend not to try them at meets.

Hehe...that's alright. I had my eyes on the DT990s anyways. Hey warrior, have you had experience with the old DT990s?

Ok, sorry for the delay replying, I was running a search this post, which describes what I mean.
