Just came back from the gig. They played a long set (2 hours + 2 encores + 2 cover songs as another encore), but it could have been better. First of all, on this tour they had some kind of "heavy metal lead vocalist", who if I remember correctly, has been in Yngwie Malmsteen's band etc. Well, he treated every song as it would have been Iron Maiden's Aces High as the last song in front of 50.000 people, and it kinda spoiled the mood of some songs. Also, the set had quite a lot of those 80's heavy-style songs, like blood of kingu, flesh of gods etc. Also, the soprano was a bit incompetent, and didn't quite nail the melodies. Maybe I was too sensitive for missed notes, as I have been listening to a lot of Wagner's operas lately, but all in all, it could have been done better. The setlist had numbers from every album from Lepaca Kliffoth to Lemuria/Sirius combo, including some gems like the draconian trilogy from Vovin. The two encores from Theli, To Mega Therion and Cults of Shadows were the best, and were performed flawlessly. It was a good gig, but nothing spectacular.

The reason for this change in line-up lies in more private matters, but has also to do with Maniac's inability to tour.

Aka Maniac is in college full time

Ha Ha.........this only serves to confirm the complete mainstream lameness of COF's last couple albums, which we have commented on here often. Maybe Danni can hang with Jessica Simpson or Avril Lavigne at the after party.

Metallica....what a joke they are now, putting out the worst stuff of thier career (not counting 1990's lame material) and up for grammy award.

Hey look Hatebreed up for award.....that means VJ Jamie of MTV2 HBB can hang with his buds at the after parties.

Runes of Dianceht - Eternal Call of Darkness
This is another of the many obscure Nokturnal Mortum spin-offs, made in Ukraine in 1997 just now seeing light of day domestically. Music wise it is OK, but not great overall compared to some other NM side projects. I mention it because of the strange vocal style.....a whisperred reptilian death vocal.
Reminds me of voice EXF you would hear in scifi movie with evil reptile looking alien.

Motorhead isn't metal.
But also Nickelback isn't music.

Placed my first order yesterday at a website I just found for dark metal:

Dark Horizon Records

This operation is in Ft Wayne Indiana, all CDs $10. Shipping not free but very reasonable. Will see how they perform, here is my order:

Dunkelgrafen "Oris Diabolis" CD $10
Azaghal "Deathkult MMDCLXVI" CD $10
Blodsrit "Helveteshymner" CD $10
Blut Aus Nord "The Mystical Beast" CD $10
Wyrd "Vargtimmen PT.1 CD $10
Wyrd "Vargtimmen PT.2 CD $10
Bergthron "Jagdheim" CD $10
Bergthron "Verborgen In Den Tiefen..." CD $10
Himinbjorg "Where Ravens Fly" CD $10
Radigost "Honor Of Our Truth..." DIGI CD $10

Some of these are very hard to find, I have been pleased with recent find Hell's Headbangers also and will order again, prices are not the lowest however. Only small problem is because these places are small must use paypal for credit card......but service is light years better than places like Century Media.

I have been vacillating on purchasing from Dark Horizon for sometime.
Please post on their service when you get a chance.
Coincidently, I recently purchased Wyrd's "Wrath and Revenge."

Since this was my first order I called the guy and talked to him, seems friendly enough and he quickly verified all my CDs were in stock before I placed order (usually they ask for alternative CDs with order so no delays if any CD out of stock)

Dark Symphonies seems to be best deal going now with $10 CDs and free shipping, however thier selection is small.

OH YEAH! I love Motorhead.
I just don't think they play "metal".

Now I have to find a Spongebob soundtrack. Your statement is news to me.

Hmm guess we have differing definitions of metal....some music IS hard to put into a category.

As Lemmy said it:

"People say we're the godfathers of heavy metal, but it's a load of bollocks. I mean, we came up along with the whole punk thing, but right behind us, although they didn't start because of us, were groups like Iron Maiden and Saxon".
