How is that MF player that you have with Metal, without the Bel Canto DAC?

Well remember the MF A3 model is 4+ years old, it is not as smooth or detailed as BC Dac 2. The Bel Canto Dac 2 not only increases detail but has smooth full sound that is good for less than perfect recordings like most rock.......this is main reason I have BC Dac 2 since 65% of my music is some type of rock/metal.

I am way behind on reporting about new stuff I got recently so.......

Mystic Forest - Welcome Back in the Forest
Mystic Forest - Green Hell
Mystic Forest - Romances
Eikenskaden - 665.999
Eikenskaden - Black Laments Symphony

More stuff from French label Oaken Sheild, both groups are projects of Stefan Kozak and various other rotating musicians. Mostly black metal but there are some baroque elements and avant sections that seperate this from mindless BM clones. Not symphonic but still has epic grimness that paints a realistic dark landscape. Similar groups currently might be Blut As Nord or Dorenreich which also add a slight modern abstract element to the classic BM onslaught, anyway only available currently through blackmetal.com.

I might add that previuosly mentioned groups Massemord & Sykdom are now being sold at The End and of course must be purchased, especially both Massemord CDs......great stuff for disciples of the dark arts.

Nokturnal Mortum
Collection now complete! Last month was able to get hard to find NM Taste of Victory CD at Hells Headbanger's site. Since then I have been after owner Chase to get me the even harder to find NM:
-Return of the Vampire Lord
-Twilightfall

I just received both of these today!

Will report more soon, Twilightfall actually first work done and predates the excellent Lunar Poetry album. I have also collected last couple years almost all spin off projects by this group including all Lucifugum CDs plus other side projects like Astrofaes and a few others.

Are you going to see the most worthy group Therion live?

Can you review the rare stuff, since most people never heard it.

MTV2 HBB - tonight they have The Haunted as studio guest.
Don't have anything by them, but at least they are Nordic group.

Lots on TV cable tonight with college football, not sure if I will catch any of this.

I'm bored, so I might check out HBB. Maybe they'll play some Spinal Tap or Gwar...

On a somewhat related note, I went to get a piercing today, and they were playing the collectors edition of Chaos AD. There's something about getting a needle pushed through your lip while listening to Policia...

I have one Lucifugum CD it's ... Back to Chopped Down Roots.
I didn't think much of it.
How do the others from this group compare?
I think I will have to give it a fresh listen, to see if I feel different about it now.

I would say that you have thier weakest album.........no kidding

Best work was with earlier stuff like:
-Instinct Prevelance
-Sortilage of Christanity

Then if you like those get:
-Stigma Egoism
-On Hooks to Pieces

I am watching HBB now since late Oklahoma/Colorado game is blow out, the game before that Auburn/Tennesee was good game. During commercials I flip to Alien on Bravo or Mummy on TNT.

Thanks for the recomendations DA. I will check those out.

I missed HBB. The DVD of Rocky Horror Picture Show arrived yesterday, and I decided to watch it last night, and play with some of the special features. We more or less watched it twice in a row.

The End has got soem new Cds that you might want to check out:

DISSECTION - Maha Kali (CD Single)
Probably the longest-awaited new metal music in years, this is Dissection's 2004 2-song single, their first new music to be unleashed since 1995's groundbreaking and influential 'Storm Of The Light's Bane' album.

Fenriz Presents: The Best Of Old-School Black Metal

Darkthrone drummer Fenriz, a legend in his own right, presents one seriously damaging playlist that perfectly encapsulates the sound, feel and atmosphere of the early black metal movement, featuring excellent tracks by the likes of Bathory, Sodom, Bulldozer, Hellhammer, Venom, Aura Noir, Celtic Frost, Mayhem, Burzum, Blasphemy, Sarcofago, Nattefrost, Mercyful Fate, Tormentor, Destruction, and Samael.

CANDLEMASS - Essential Doom

14-track compilation of all the highlights from Candlemass' first four albums. Big news here is the 2003 demo track "Witches", the only new song the band has recorded in their on-again, off-again reunions of the past several years. CANDLEMASS RULES!!!

OH yeah! Fenriz presents, I gotta get that one. Anything with that guy's name on it I gotta have.

I gave Lucifugum or whatever they're called a fresh listen to, I liked it better than the last time. I will get another one of their albums, since this one is the weaker one.

Still working my way through new CD stack,,,,,many more to go.

Blodsrit - Supreme Misanthropy
Blodsrit - Ocularis Infernum

Two more winners from French label Oaken Sheild, classic BM from Sweden with decent sound that reveals tempo breaks and melody, blasphemous riffage from darkness below, venomous tomes paint grim lanscsapes.....what more needs to be said if you like classic Immortal, Marduk, Dissection etc this is for you. Only available at blackmetal.com or sometimes Dark Symphonies for now.
Blodsrit

Beserk - Rites of Supremacy
I will mention this as it is not as good as Blodsrit or some others, but mid tempo black pagan metal from Spain. Melodic drawing inspiration from mid 1990's nordic masters, has some instrumental work and subject matter deals with Iberian culture folklore etc......another Oaken Sheild artist.

Not they are last word in music tatse, but just one opinion. I haven't heard anything by them myself.

Who are VBE? Did they come from another famous group or just new? I guess what really matters is are they any good.....give us the scoop.

Am waiting for you to give me green light to buy new:
Enslaved - Isa

I like previous album "lights below" but want to make sure this new CD is not too progressive and still has some dark edge to it.
