Audeze is generally warm outside of the LCD-XC and 4 from what I've heard.

The eu volume cap is not the problem. You can avoid it by choosing another region. The hardware is just to weak. I'm using over ears only.

stumbled on this part , ouch ..

among m17 dx300max shanling m9 and others , I found a Sony totl dap the winner , hardware is likely the best .......... , and carefully designed chosen by its audio eng.s , or anyhow there with the top daps > in particular and properly when sound quality coming from it is the concern . Eu volume cap is universally considered quite the issue though, just pay attention and buy the Japan or Asian version if going for one of the Sony totl dap ..
I'm using over ears only .
