I joined not too long ago, looking for a good set of closed cans to help me study. BHD812 pointed me at this site from a car forum we both frequent. I think its safe to say he's to blame for this. Since I joined, I've bought

1 beyer dt770-250
1 sr325
1 MS2i
2 beyer dt 770-80
bought a cmoy
bought a mint
built a cmoy
AV710
made interconnects

geesh... I guess the ol' wallet saying really rings true eh? Somehow, I signed myself up to organize a meet. heh. Oh well... can't put a price on rediscovering all my music, I guess

A very nice list too ........

Beyerdynamic do it on purpose ..... sell you a DT770 250 ohm .... then you spot an 80 ohm version so you buy that as well. Double whammy!!!!!!

Much difference? (except volume)

I guess most of the Head-fi members would not expect that they will spend that much on cans and its setup before they join to this forum.

Happen to me too.. although I haven't buy anything that is considerably expensive or crazy...,
but I'm looking forward to purchase some good setup in the near future (I bet most headfiers plan to do so)

atm, I have HD555 and before I join this forum or read any post of this forum. I was telling myself that I won't spend more than $80 for a can and never even know if there was a dedicated headphone amplifier and I think its stupid to have one (I'm asking myself at that time: "Why in the world one needs an amp for headphone?").
but now, guess what, I'm ordering an a tube amp from china (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/bchen3/DOTII2.jpg) and considering to buy ath-w2002 and would like to test gilmore lite and singlepower amps.

curse you headfi!
Freinds and family think I'm nuts buying $100 headphone!

I hope my next headphone purchase will be my last. (SA5000's in May

) But in all honesty I know they won't be. I doubt I'll even make it through the year without buying another set of cans. Maybe I should just start a list now...

Don't even get me started :p

Actually, I've done pretty well so far. I bought SR80s, then broke them (accidentally), then gott SR125s as a replacement. Recently I bought HD497s as secondary/backup, and I plan on getting some DT231s for college soon. Not to mention my plans for Shure E2c's, that CMoy I still have to build, and my life goal of RS2s

It has been, and continues to be, a wild ride. And I'm loving every minute of it.

To me it's more like (re)discovering bits of the magic of the music with every headphones I audition... never cease to amaze me.

One year ago I was happy with my E3c with my 2G iPod, and was buying Bose QC2... looking back, it has been a long way. What was I thinking?

When I first joined, I couldn't believe that there was such a thing as $700 headphones. Last week I bought a set of RS-1's. This place is dangerous!

I'm definitely going to update that thread once the Headphile Stand comes - it deserves it, since it will alter the complexion of my entire rig on my desk I bet!

I feel good when I read this.
Now, the Cmoy, the Sony nw-HD3 and the Grado SR225 since i joined, seem less waste of money to my wife

No kidding!!! It only took like 13 days for head-fi to get to me. And when it did...oh man. I bought SR-225's and e3's in the SAME day! Plus I spent enough countless nights reading in the DIY forums and made a cMoy and some mini IC's. I think this is the best money I've ever spent that made other people laugh at me

. My ear's are delighted though, I can't complain.

Wow, that is doing it right my friend; sweet aint it?

Well, I have been lurking around since Nov., but started getting crazy in Jan. when I joined.

My toys since Jan:

Cans: HD457, HD650*, CD3000*, DT770PRO80
Sources: av710, 1212m*, DAC1, Audiophile USB on the way.
Amps: Gilmore Lite*, DAC1, Earmax Pro on the way
Misc: A couple of toslinks and a behringer DEQ2496

* = sold

The first 6 months seem like a burn in period where a-lot of guyz fly through gear while looking for their sound, at least from what I have gathered.
