Hello,
Is it even possible to buy a DAC or DAC/AMP with a HDMI input?

I was hoping to find one for about $300.00 ( probably Chinese) but I'm having a hard time.

Any advice?

You can buy an HDMI de-embedder and connect this to the SPDIF input of most DACs...

It's called an AVR--audio video receiver

Can you recommend a good one for $300.00?

Is that something like this?

Does this de-embedder effect the sound?
And where would I find one?

BTW~Thanks for the reply, guys!

Looks about right,

No idea about the SQ though (although I vaguely remember reading that some other posters are using that brand).
