100+ Head-Fier
Hello All,
I'm considering upgrading my Maverick Audio TubeMagic D2, as I have a La Figaro 339 on order and purchased a pair of HiFiman HE-500s also. My current amp is a Schiit Vali 2. Since I am upgrading my amp and headphones, I figured I'd see about my DAC as well. I'm looking for something that pairs wells with the 339. I use my setup for watching anime, playing games, and listening to music. My music files are mostly FLAC with some 320 kbps MP3s. I don't have any DSD files or such. I currently use the RCA and Optical outputs on my TubeMagic D2, RCA for my amp and Optical for Xbox.
For a budget, would starting at $300 to $400 get me a noticeable upgrade that warrants replacing my TubeMagic D2 with a new DAC?
I am also considering getting a DAC that has Balanced Outputs, so I can try that out later down the road. So what price point should I look at; should I decide to go for a DAC with Balanced Output?
My current Setup
TubeMagic D2 -> Loki -> Vali 2 -> HE-500s, Beyer DT880 & DT990 Pro 600 ohms
