I would like to find out how everyone feels about an external Dac vs a sound card? This will be 100 percent for music and price is not an issue, I just want good sound quality. This will be for my Micro Amp and 650's. I have not picked out a Dac or sound card yet so recommendations would be most appreciated.

BTW: This is not for me personally, it is for a fellow head-fier.

Since your friend already has a Micro Amp why not get the Micro Dac and a sound card that can output Optical or Coaxial to feed the Micro Dac. Or he could always feed the Micro Dac via USB.

If your friend uses an Apple the headphone out is also an optical out and he could feed the Micro Dac directly via an optical cable. Good luck.
