Hi,

I am wondering if anybody has recommendations for I/V conversion op-amps for DACs. I can find a lot of information regarding op-amp recommendations for use in voltage amps and output stages, but little about choosing them for I/V.

I am planning on modding a DAC that uses stereo differential current output, with the I/V conversion serviced by 2x NE5532 dual op-amps. I am going to be trying the AD825, mounted on two dual-SMD-to-DIP8 Brown Dog boards. I have 4x OPA627BP I'm also going try, using different Brown Dogs.

Thanks!

Try AD8599 on a SO-8 to DIP8 adapter in place of each NE5532. Instead of the LM4562 look for LME49720, sounds like a higher grade of the same chip. However I'd choose the AD8599 or 2x AD825 over any of them.

they are the same chip, just updated to National's newer "audio" nomenclature.

I use and prefer the metal can National LM4562 (Digikey LM4562HA-ND) to the OPA627. Here's one of the many threads about this opamp:

Very interesting, although for the LM4562 I think I'd have to add some power rail caps that the DAC currently does not have for the NE5532.

Thanks for the info guys
