Posted in the high-end audio section, but then realized this is a better place.
 
What would be a good DAC upgrade for my current setup:
Xonar STX -> SAC-KH1000 -> K1000
 
Budget-wise, I guess I'd like best price-performance ratio.
 
If I upgrade to a better DAC, how much of a perceived difference will I hear? This is the only concern that's holding me back.

Xonar STX is pretty good already. Improvements will likely depend on synergy and personal preference. You could spend $500 on an external DAC and not get much. Maybe a Lavry or Benchmark DAC?

Damn, that's what I feared. Any idea on what synergises well with the K1000 + SAC combo?
